在可愛公主和擬人化的動物之間似乎有什麼不可告人的故事。透過 張恩慈 縫繡系列作品對於童話的重新解構閱讀，略帶自虐地撥開完美甜膩的表徵，揭露了另一種可以被多元閱讀，可愛又可怕的小女孩神話。…………藝評家/ 黃海鳴
「放輕鬆，這只是醒著。」一語為此次個展提供了觀看作品時的想像層面，也正是我創作時的心理寫照。「只是醒著」表示知曉與睡著狀態時的分野，更加強在於清醒時的短暫。正如同作品中蘊含著那模糊、曖昧與矛盾的狀態，似乎是在半熟睡之際，打開另一廣闊的心理視野，觀察著我們所身處的現實世界。
作品中，以經典童話故事中的公主形象為主軸，透過縫繡而遺留下的線條 ，流露出慾望的神情與不尋常的姿態，不同世界的形象開始產生了對話性。交疊的赤裸女體、公主、小鹿、鳥、眼神、不同的手部姿勢，造成畫面中有一股分不清空間時序之感。我透過充滿矛盾情緒的公主形象 ， 試圖層層剝開社會建構下所認同的人格面具。

Relax, I'm Just Awake. En-Tzu CHANG's Solo Exhibition 2009
There seems a secret between the lovely princess and the animal characters. Through En-Tzu CHANG's sewing works which de-construct the re-define the fairy tales, the symbolic sweetness of the tale is torn down in a self-abusive manner. It unveils another possibility for little girls' myth, lovely and scary, to be able to read the tales in different angles.---- Hai-Ming Huang, Art Critics
The title, "Relax, I'm Just Awake", provides another psychological imagination when viewing this solo exhibition. It is also my state of emotion when creating this work series. The state of "Awake" is a clear dividend between awareness and sleep, even highlighting the shortness of the somber time. It means that there are too much in works and life which are beyond our comprehension or are suppressed into our lost-consciousness. When we take easy and face what we have experienced, then communicate with each other as if we lost our consciousness, we can surely invoke our un-conscious part up to the consciousness stage and have a conversation with it.
These works, centering on the princess' image in the fairy tale classics, express with the sign of lust and unusual gestures. The works try to unmask the personalities which are widely accepted in the society. In the visual of the work, the images of different worlds start to interlace. The crossed naked bodies of men and women, the curly head with a long nose, the princess, the deer, the bird, the eye contact and various hand gestures give the whole visual an atmosphere, as if we cannot tell in space and time.
En-Tzu CHANG
Born in 1983 in Kaohsiung, CHANG has a Master's Degree in Fine Arts at National Kaohsiung Normal University. In 2009, she was invited to WaterMill Village as an artist-in-residence in Long Island, New York. Her recent exhibition includes Duel Regard – The Views from Taiwanese Women's Arts (National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, 2009) and Solo Exhibition "What Do You See at Very Moment!" (Taiwan New Arts Union in Tainan, 2007). She received several honors such as "Kaohsiung Awards and the 25th Kaohsiung Fine Arts Exhibition" (2008), "Arts in Taipei: Made in Taiwan" New Artists Showcase (2008), and Finalist of "Taoyuan Creation Award"(2007). In 2007, her works were acquired by National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts as a part of the Young Artists Collection.
